Born in 1944 in Pau, South-West of France. Alain Lamassoure is graduated of ENA (National School of Administration). Advisor to the Court of Auditors in France, he became a Member of the European Parliament in 1989 and was nominated Minister for European Affairs from 1993 to 1995 and Minister for the Budget and Government spokesman from 1995 to 1997. He returned to the European level and is an MEP since 1999. Former Member of the European Convention, Alain Lamassoure chaired the Budgets committee in the previous legislature. Former Head of the EPP French delegation, he chaired the committee on Tax Rulings and Other Measures Similar in Nature or Effect (TAXE 1 & 2). He is now the Rapporteur on the Common Consolidated Tax Base (CCCTB).
